Support student initiated awareness parade

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —Students from Vicksburg Warren School District have worked together to plan a cancer awareness parade set for next week in downtown Vicksburg.

The parade will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 and route will take Washington Street beginning at Belmont. The parade is set to start 5:30 p.m. The slogan of the parade is “Marching for the fighters. Honoring the survivors. Remembering the taken.”

The event is a student government led project involving students from Vicksburg High School, Warren Central High School and River City Early College. Each school will have have floats with color themes to represent various types of cancer. This will be the fall project planned by the group of students. Another event will be held in the upcoming spring term.
