Two reported injured in VWSD bus accident

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — At around 4:15 p.m., a Vicksburg-Warren School District bus from Warren Central Junior High was rear-ended in an accident on Highway 80 and Ironwood Drive.

According to reports, all the children on the bus are being taken to an area hospital for evaluation. If there are any injuries, they are believed to be minor. One person, believed to be a bus monitor, was placed on a stretcher for transport. At least one other injury was reported at the scene.

One report indicates the vehicle involved was a county firefighter.

Numerous emergency personnel responded from the city and county, including Sheriff Martin Pace, and the roadway was shut down while the injured were treated by first responders.
