USACE announces Arkabutla Lake archery hunt

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District has announced the dates for the 2025 special management archery deer hunts at Arkabutla Lake. The hunts are scheduled for Oct. 24–26 and Oct. 31–Nov. 2.

Each hunt will last three days, and participants must hold a valid Mississippi hunting license to apply. Applications are available at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office and online at https://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Arkabutla-Lake/.

The application deadline is 3 p.m. on Aug. 27. Applicants will be randomly selected until all available hunting slots are filled. The drawing will take place on Sept. 2, and successful applicants will be notified via email or phone.

Hunters selected through the lottery will be granted access to scout the hunting area through Sept. 30. The designated hunting zones and the number of hunters may vary depending on potential area closures below the dam.
