Fire on Hillcrest
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — At around 7:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a call at 906 Hillcrest Street.
When fire fighters arrived the home was fully engulfed. The home was vacant so the first order of business was to set a boundary to contain the fire to keep it from spreading to nearby homes.
“At 1943 Battalion 1, Engine 7, Engine 6, Platform 1, and FM40 responded to 906 Hillcrest St for vacant house fully involved structure fire,” said VFD Chief Trey Martin. “The fire cause is still undetermined at this time but remains under investigation. No one is believed to be in the structure.”
According to Chief Martin the house will be a total loss; however, the fire was restructured to a a single structure.
Battalion Chief Daryl Carson said he was grateful they could set a boundary for the fire.
“Once we knew no one was in there, we just wanted to keep it from spreading,” said Carson.
“Fire crews did a great job preventing fire spread and protecting nearby house and camper from any damage,” said Martin.
