VFD honors top voted winners

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Fire Department held a Christmas party Thursday, Dec. 17. This was the first holiday party for the department since the onset of COVID-19.

During the party, VFD named the winners for Fire Officer of the Year, Fire Fighter of the Year, Paramedic of the Year and EMT of the Year. Each selection was peer voted winner meaning they were voted as top by their coworkers. The winners are as follows:

Fire Officer of the Year

Lt. Demetriuse Claiborne

Firefighter of the Year

Pvt. Tyree Valentine

Paramedic of the Year

Courtney Tullos

EMT of the Year

Veronica Williamson

The department said the event was made possible by the generous donations from local businesses and vendors.

“Thank you to all the local businesses and vendors that helped support tonight with door prizes and food, we could not have done it without your support and generosity,” stated the department.
