Vicksburg man killed in crash after fleeing from law enforcement in Lawrence County

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (VDN) – A Vicksburg man was killed in a car crash on Highway 43 in Lawrence County while actively fleeing from law enforcement.
On Sunday, October 12, 2025, at approximately 1:18 a.m., the
Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 43 in Lawrence County.
A 2015 Nissan Altima driven by 42-year-old Michael Lyons of Vicksburg, MS, traveled south on Highway 43 when it left the roadway and overturned.
Michael Lyons received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. A 15-year-old female passenger received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Michael Lyons was actively fleeing from a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy at the time of the crash.
Any questions related to the pursuit should be directed to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
