Vicksburg murder suspect has probation revoked, receives 15-year sentence

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — A Vicksburg murder suspect had his probation revoked Friday and was ordered to serve his original 15-year prison sentence stemming from a 2024 robbery conviction from which he previously received a suspended sentence.

Judge James Chaney handed down the ruling to Deangelo Frazier during a court appearance held just weeks after Frazier was charged with murder.

Lionel Johnson of the Vicksburg Police Department testified and provided details surrounding the new charge.

According to Johnson’s testimony, Frazier, Sidney McDaniel and Maranda Quarles met at a store on Bowmar Avenue in January, where they planned to rob an alleged drug dealer. Video footage showed Frazier firing multiple shots at Jeremy Bailey, who later died from his injuries.

All three suspects were charged in Bailey’s death and each was issued a $1 million bond.

Frazier will now serve 15 years in prison for the robbery case while he continues to face the pending murder charge.

Assistant District Attorney Branan Southerland represented the state in this case.
