VPD releases crime stats for November, December

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department released the November and December crime statistics to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at the regular meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 21.

For the period of time for the two months, the department logged a total of 3,274 calls, filed 1,183 reports, made 244 arrests, issued 177 warrants, gave 207 citations, submitted 24 warnings and distributed 10 DUI’s.

During the months there were no murders and no manslaughters committed. One incident of forcible rape occurred in December. As for robbery cases, there were two cases in November.

During November there were 14 aggravated assaults reported and December reported 12 cases.

Additionally, there were three total cases of business burglaries- two in November and one in December; however residential burglaries were higher with a total of one reported in November and a huge leap in December with 11 cases.

The crime stats recorded 13 incidents of auto burglary in November with a breakdown of three involving secured vehicles, five for unsecured vehicles and five cases unknown if the vehicle was locked. The month of December reported slightly lower incidents with a total of seven: two for secured vehicles, three from unsecured vehicles and two unknown.

There were no carjackings during the period, but four auto thefts in November and six thefts in December.

There was one kidnapping case in December with none from the month prior.

The domestic violence cases were the most by far with a total of 58 incidents occurring during the months: 31 reported in November and 27 reported in December.
