Warren Central Class of 1995 celebrates 30-year reunion during historic North State Championship victory
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren Central High School Class of 1995 celebrated its 30-year class reunion in unforgettable fashion during a night that bridged past and present Viking greatness. The reunion coincided with the Vikings’ historic North State Championship win and advancement to the 6A MHSAA State Championship, making their return to the title game for the first time in 30 years, the same milestone year as the Class of 1995’s championship season.
Members of the 1994-95 state championship team were recognized on the field during half-time for their lasting legacy and role in building the Viking standard of excellence. Representing the team were: Brian Darden, Eric Payne, Thad Bridges, Mincer Minor, (President of the Class of 1995), Brad Ford, Brian Wells, Delvin Kelly, Darren Bentley, Robin Knighton and Kevin Ford.
Also recognized were alumni WCHS cheerleaders, alumni members of Big Blue Band, choir, ROTC, and general student body.
In a powerful generational moment, legendary head coach Robert Morgan Sr. joined the class on the field to commemorate their historic championship run. Adding to the emotional tribute, his son, Robert Morgan Jr., current Warren Central Offensive Coordinator, Class of 1995 graduate, and member of the original championship team, briefly stepped onto the field to join his former teammates as the Vikings headed into the second half of their semifinal game at Viking Stadium, symbolizing the seamless continuation of Viking pride from player to coach.
The reunion weekend also included special recognition of distinguished honorees whose lives and service have had a meaningful impact on the Warren Central community: Agnes Lyles, Jackie Loyacono, Coach Robert Morgan Sr., Faye Thompson and keynote speaker Zelmarine Murphy, former President, Vicksburg Warren School Board.
Class President and championship team member Mincer Minor reflected on the moment:
“As President of the Class of 1995 and part of that championship run, being back on the field during such a historic win was emotional. Seeing Coach Morgan Sr. with us and our teammate Robert Morgan Jr. coaching on the sidelines brought our story full circle. It showed that Viking pride doesn’t have an expiration date. Our class stands united in support of this team as they fight for the 6A championship.”
The Warren Central Class of 1995 reunion became more than a celebration of time passed, it became a living expression of tradition, connection, and continuity. As today’s Vikings push toward the ultimate goal, alumni across generations remain united behind them, echoing the same spirit that carried the championship team three decades ago.
Once a Viking, always a Viking.
