Warren Central’s biggest football fan Elvin Nevels dies at 66
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Warren Central High School’s biggest football fan, Elvin Nevels, has died at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering support for the Vikings’ football program.
A 1979 graduate of Warren Central, Nevels remained deeply connected to the school and its football team for decades. He was a familiar face at nearly every Vikings home game and was widely known for his dedication to attending games year after year. When he was unable to be at the games, Nevels followed the action by listening on the radio.
Before his death, Nevels was able to witness one of the most memorable seasons in school history, as the Vikings captured the 2025 state championship.
In November, Nevels was honored by the program and recognized as the team’s most dedicated supporter. He was presented with a custom football helmet and a jersey bearing the number 35 in appreciation of his longtime loyalty and support.
Nevels’ passion for Warren Central football made him a beloved figure among players, coaches and fans alike.
Funeral arrangements for Nevels have not been publicly announced at this time. VDN will provide his obituary once it becomes open to the public.
