City increases ambulance rates

Vicksburg Fire Department Chief Harry “Trey” Martin appeared before the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen Thursday, June 25, to address the issue of increasing ambulance service rates.

Vicksburg’s ambulance service is one of less than 20 municipally owned in the entire state. According to reports, the city hasn’t increased the rates for the emergency service since 2022.

The Board approved the increases as follows:

BLS Non-Emergency will increase to $500 from $350

BLS Emergency will increase to $750 from $450

ALS Emergency will increase to $1500 from $1000

ALS 2 Emergency will increase to $2000 and previously fell under the ALS Emergency categroy

Additionally, mileage will increase from $15 to $30

The changes will go into effect August 1, 2026.
