Alcorn shooter arrested by MBI

Lorman, Miss. (VDN) — The suspected shooter at the homecoming celebration for Alcorn State has been arrested by MBI.
In a release, the department said that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has arrested 26-year-old Taevion Doss in connection to the shooting incident that occurred at Alcorn State University on October 11th. Doss has been charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon on school property.
This remains an open investigation. No further comment will be made.
“I’m proud of the hard work and collaboration between the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and our local partners,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell. “Together, we’re sending a clear message that senseless crime has no place in Mississippi.”
At Saturday’s homecoming, according to local sources, several shots rang out at about 6:30 p.m. in the area. “There was so many shots, I lost count,” said the witness who requested their name be withheld. The eyewitness reports that at least two people have been shot, and one of them is believed to have received serious, life-threatening wounds in the incident. Another victim was seen on a stretcher receiving care from paramedics.
The shooting took place near the Jack’s Grocery Store on the campus.
At one point, one of the injured was covered with a white sheet. Paramedics were later observed working on that individual who was then put in an ambulance and transported from the scene. Police were searching the area and appeared to be looking for shell casings from the shooting.
The shooting left Brekyra Fisher (29 years old), of Vicksburg, deceased, and two others injured. Claiborne County Coroner Kieon Neal identified the deceased.
