Alderman Mayfield partners with MDA to host workshop

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Alderman TJ Mayfield is pleased to announce a partnership with the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) to host a Contractor’s License Readiness Workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at MCity. This workshop is designed for Building Trade Contractors preparing to take the Certificate of Responsibility (COR) Exam with the Mississippi State Board of Contractors.

The workshop will prepare attendees with the critical knowledge for the Mississippi Certificate of Responsibility application process. Participants will also receive instruction on subjects covered in the business and management law exam, as well as the commercial, residential, and NASCLA examinations. The session includes opportunities to work through practice questions, helping participants gain familiarity with test formats. The workshop will be facilitated by Anthony Griffin, President of Griffin Construction and Roofing in Jackson, MS, who has years of professional experience in the building industry.

Alderman Mayfield emphasized the importance of supporting local contractors and strengthening workforce readiness within the community. “This workshop is about empowering our local builders and people with trades to have the right business skills with the tools they need to succeed,” said Alderman Mayfield. “By helping contractors become properly licensed, we strengthen our neighborhoods, support small business growth, and create more opportunities for quality construction across our city. Vicksburg has several talented contractors, but events like this ensure that they have the proper documentation for bids and selection processes.”
