BRANDON, Miss. – On Tuesday, Entergy Mississippi will unveil the latest location for its EV fast chargers, just ahead of the busy July Fourth travel weekend. This will be the second company-owned electric vehicle charging station within Entergy Corporation’s four-state service area.

The new fast charge station is located in downtown Brandon near I-20. Additionally, this station, along with the first set of chargers at the Renaissance at Colony Park in Ridgeland, will help Entergy Mississippi study the impact of EVs on the power grid. Moreover, it will help prepare for future improvements as electric vehicle usage increases.

“Entergy Mississippi’s DC fast charging station pilot program will help us bridge the ‘charging gap’ on Mississippi roadways in both rural and urban areas,” said Willie Simmons, MDOT’s central district commissioner. “We hope that one day EV drivers will no longer bypass our state due to a lack of charging infrastructure, which currently hurts tourism and economic activity. This public and private collaboration investment will yield great returns for the public sector.”

Aside from the Brandon and Ridgeland charging stations, Adopt a Charger installed six chargers on the Raymond campus in February. This is the first site of the Charge Up! Mississippi initiative. The program is supported by a $160,000 grant from Entergy’s Environmental Initiatives Fund.

Adopt a Charger plans to install approximately 24 EV charging stations in and around the Jackson Metro area. With the plan to enable zero-emission travel and educate the public about the benefits of driving electric. The next charging stations will be at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the Mississippi Children’s Museum.
