WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — Friday night’s game was decided by a tremendous interception from Jonas Green, securing Warren Central’s 21-14 district victory over Ridgeland.

On the Titans’ final drive, Green snatched the tipped ball and made the play of the night when he intercepted the pass to save a potential touchdown.

“I saw it in the air and I said I had to go get it, so that’s what I did,” Green said. “It was a great win, and everyone played hard. Nobody tried to be a hero.”

Crishun Brown and T’Kylan Wright made key defensive stops early as the Vikings set the tone. Quarterback Nash Morgan connected with Mike Hall on a 59-yard pass to set up the first score. Javid Scott rushed the ball to the 1-yard line before Morgan ran in the short touchdown. Jonah Artman’s extra point made it 7-0.

Green made a tackle in the backfield on the next defensive series. When Ridgeland attempted to punt, a bad snap went over the punter’s head and was downed at the 1-yard line. Morgan ran in his second touchdown moments later to give Warren Central a 14-0 lead. Wright continued to make stops in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Xavier Jackson scored on a 18-yard run, and Artman’s kick extended the lead to 21-0.

Samuel Ross delivered a big hit on defense as the Titans tried to move downfield. With 40 seconds left in the first half, Ridgeland quarterback D.K. Wallace scored on an 8-yard run to cut the lead to 21-7.

The Vikings maintained their two-touchdown advantage through the third quarter until Kadin Qualls scored on an 11-yard sweep to make it 21-14.

Late in the fourth quarter, Ridgeland appeared poised to tie the game. Wallace threw a 25-yard touchdown pass, but the play was called back due to a penalty. Moments later, Green’s interception sealed the victory for Warren Central.

The game was marked by multiple penalties and mistakes, with both teams having touchdowns called back.

Warren Central (4-2, 1-0 in district) is led by head coach Josh Morgan. The Vikings will host Greenville High School for Homecoming next Friday.
