“I wanted to open this daycare to make a difference in young children’s lives and make sure each kid has an opportunity to shine and lead them in the right direction,” Brown said.

Brown has spent more than four decades working with children throughout the community. She said caring for children has always been her passion and described it as a God-given talent that allows her to show children love and help them grow.

“I want people to know that this is a place where they can assure that their kids will be loved, nurtured, and be prepared to go to the next level,” Brown added.

Guiding Light Early Learning Academy is now fully operational and accepting children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old.

The center is located at 920 Farmer St. in Vicksburg and operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
