USACE accepting applications for youth hunt
Join the 2026 Veterans Deer Hunt at Grenada Lake to honor our Veterans and manage the deer population effectively.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District at Grenada Lake is preparing to host the 2026 Veterans Deer Hunt on December 18-20, 2026.
The primary purpose of this hunt is to give back to our Veterans who have sacrificed much to protect the freedoms of our country as well as to regulate the deer herd to prevent overpopulation.
Registration for the hunt is in-person only and will be held November 3-14, 2026, at the Grenada Lake Visitor Center, which is open Tuesday-Saturday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (closed 1:00-1:30 for lunch). Registrants must provide proof of Veteran status when registering.
Hunters will be drawn to hunt in one of three locations: below Grenada Dam, Benwood, or Grenada Waterfowl Refuge.
Participants must abide by all USACE and Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks rules and regulations. Those selected to participate in the hunt will be notified by phone or email.
