A man has been charged with murder following a shooting on Patton Street in Vicksburg. David Anthony Jackson was arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident that left one man with multiple gunshot wounds.

A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with Monday’s shooting on Patton Street in Vicksburg.
The Vicksburg Police Department announced Tuesday that David Anthony Jackson was arrested and charged with murder as a result of the ongoing investigation.
The shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Patton Street area. Vicksburg Police Chief Larry Burns initially said a white male had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Police responded to the scene, where a homeless community was also located in the area. Authorities initially said they were searching for two Black males in connection with the shooting.
Police have not released additional details regarding Jackson’s alleged involvement or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. VPD said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
