Roosevelt Harris pleads guilty to second degree murder in Vicksburg

Roosevelt Harris has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Christie Ware in Vicksburg. The incident occurred on July 12, 2024, and Harris is set to be sentenced on November 6.

Roosevelt Harris has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the 2024 stabbing death of a Vicksburg woman.

Harris appeared before Warren County Circuit Court Judge M. James Chaney Jr. on Friday and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge. He was originally charged with first-degree murder.

The case stems from the July 12, 2024, death of 50-year-old Christie Ware. Ware was found stabbed to death inside a home in the 800 block of Clark Street in Vicksburg.

Harris was taken into custody following the stabbing and was later given a $3 million bond.

Harris is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 6. He faces up to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
