Charles David Baldwin: 1942-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Charles David Baldwin, a longtime resident of Vicksburg, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025. He was 83 years old.
David spent most of his life in Vicksburg. He graduated from H.V. Cooper High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from Mississippi State University. He dedicated 34 years of service to International Paper Company. A devoted member of First Baptist Church, he served faithfully as a deacon and was active in many church ministries.
In retirement, David continued to serve through the Mississippi Baptist Convention’s disaster relief efforts, most notably helping victims of Hurricane Katrina. His work in Pearlington, Mississippi, led the construction of 50 new homes for hurricane victims over a three-year period. He went on to serve disaster victims locally, nationally, and internationally for many years following his time in Pearlington.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Minnie Rae Baldwin; his brother, William Fred Baldwin; and nephew, Troy Baldwin. David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patty Nutt Baldwin; his son, Scott Baldwin (Allison) of Mountain Brook, AL; his daughter, Jill Oldenburg (John), of Vicksburg; his brother, Harold Baldwin of Waynesboro, VA. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kade Oldenburg (Chandler), Brett Oldenburg (Piper), Haley Oldenburg and Rush Baldwin, all of Vicksburg, as well as Chaney Fair (Pallas) of Caledonia, MS. His great-grandchildren, Sawyer Fair, Haynes Fair, Henley Fair and Blaire Oldenburg, that all brought him great joy.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at First Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Matt Buckles officiating. A visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kade Oldenburg, Brett Oldenburg, John Oldenburg, Scott Baldwin, Rush Baldwin and Pallas Fair. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Oswalt, Kerry Pitts, Calvin Pugh, Larry Daggett and his Sunday School Class.
