Christopher Smith 1978-2026
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Christopher Smith, born on April 19, 1978, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, departed this life on February 11, 2026. He is remembered as a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose loving spirit and infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around him.
Christopher graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1997 and was a dedicated member of Zion Travelers MB Church. His work ethic was commendable, and he was no stranger to hard work—a testament to his resilience and commitment to his family and community.
With a radiant smile and a gift for making others laugh, Christopher had an unparalleled ability to uplift those around him. His genuine warmth and considerate nature left a lasting impression, assuring that encounters with him were full of joy and heartfelt connections.
Cherishing his memories are his mother, Carol L. Howard; his daughter, Connie Miller; one grandson; and his siblings: sisters Latoya Smith (Jamel Williams), Annie Smith (Carlos Wright), Whitney Smith (Stanley Taylor), Marquita Promise, and Amanda Johnson; and brother, Darrius Liggins, all of Vicksburg, MS. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Annie L. Smith, and paternal grandmother, Dorothy Mae Warren. Additionally, Christopher leaves behind a large family network that includes seven aunts and ten uncles from Vicksburg, MS, along with a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends, including Freddie Smith of Vicksburg.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Burnelle Banks Howard; brother, Darrell Kemp; uncle, Ray M. Cosby; maternal grandfather, Herbert D. Smith; and several great-grandparents and aunts and uncles who will also be fondly remembered.
His life will be honored with a series of services held at C J Williams Mortuary Center located at 1625 Monroe Street, Vicksburg, MS. Visitation will be on March 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Viewing on March 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service celebrating Christopher’s life will take place on the same day, March 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:00 PM.
Christopher’s legacy of love and humor will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
