Community unites for Toys for Tots and breast cancer awareness in Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The inaugural Toys for Tots Breast Cancer Awareness Walk was held Saturday at the Vicksburg High School track, where community members gathered for a day of giving, remembrance and support. The event, organized largely by Tracey Fletcher, honored breast cancer survivors and those who lost their battles, while also collecting toy donations for children in need.

Participants took part in a four-mile walk, with many continuing beyond that distance. The atmosphere was filled with encouragement, fellowship and purpose as walkers contributed to both cancer awareness and the Toys for Tots mission.

The event aimed to bring the community together to support two important causes — breast cancer awareness and helping less fortunate children have a brighter holiday season. Organizers said they plan to continue hosting similar events to strengthen community bonds and promote acts of kindness.
The next Toys for Tots event will be Cruise Night for Toys for Tots, scheduled for Oct. 23 and Nov. 6, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fox’s Pizza (61 North) in Vicksburg. The event, hosted by 1 Rule Rods, will feature a car show, food, and fellowship. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to help brighten a child’s Christmas.
