VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Antonia Flaggs-Jones, former Warren County Tax Collector has passed away. Jones passed away over the weekend and many people went to social media to express their condolences, including the current Tax Collector’s Office administration.

“We are truly saddened to hear about the passing of our former Warren County tax collector and my dear friend, Antonia Flaggs Jones, said Tax Collector Amanda Haggard Battle in a post. “It was an honor to have worked under her leadership, and she made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. She was a great leader but an even better person. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Last year, on New Year’s Day, Jones posted a Facebook post reflecting on her life and times with the Tax Collector’s Office.

“As I reflect on my life, the citizens of Warren County have watched me grow, she said in the post. “I started as a little girl in the Tax Collector’s office. I found my supportive husband there, married, finished my college education, had my two beautiful children, survived cancer, and many other obstacles. But through it all Warren County has been good to me. Now it’s time to begin a new chapter in my life. After 33 years I would like to thank the many friends that I have made on this journey for your patience and kindness. Most importantly the good Lord for guiding every step of the way. I look forward to many new adventures that life has to offer. Thank you all and be blessed.”
