George Sheffield 

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — George David Sheffield passed away March 3, 2026, at the age of 67.

George was born in Vicksburg, MS on August 14, 1958, the son of George Yerger Sheffield and Bobbye Joan Lott Sheffield.  He attended Bowmar Avenue School, Jett Elementary School, Porters Chapel Academy and graduated from Warren Central High School.  He began his career with MDOT in 1979 and retired in December 2025, after 46+ years of service. He was an avid Sci Fi reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Christine “Grankie” Sheffield and his aunt Helen Hebert.

He is survived by his sister Lolita Harker, nephews Adam Hude and Benjamin Hude, niece Megan Hude, great-nephew Jack Badgett and first cousins Christy Hebert and John Lott (Jill).

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Glenwood Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
