VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A new signature art event for Mississippi is set to debut in Vicksburg this fall. The inaugural Vicksburg Hipstoric Art Festival will take place Sept. 26-28, 2025, along Washington Street in downtown Vicksburg.

The festival will feature the work of up to 100 artists from across the country, offering collectors and visitors the chance to view, purchase and connect directly with artists. Media categories include clay, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood. In addition to fine art, the event will showcase live music, food vendors and children’s activities sponsored by the Vicksburg Art Association.

Highlights include the Mint Julep Trail, where local restaurants and bars will offer their own versions of the historic cocktail linked to Vicksburg lore, and a special screening of Eudora, a new documentary on writer Eudora Welty, Sept. 27 at the Strand Theatre.

Festival hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 27, and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 28. Children’s activities run Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. The Mint Julep Trail will be open throughout festival hours.

The event is part of Vicksburg’s Bicentennial celebration and is presented by the Vicksburg Art Association, which has supported and promoted the arts locally for more than 40 years.
