Janiyah Mazie crowned 2025 Vicksburg High School Homecoming Maid of Honor

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Janiyah Mazie has been crowned as the 2025 Homecoming Maid of Honor at Vicksburg High School. The senior football players voted to select her, and she received her recognition during halftime of the football game Friday night.

“Thank y’all for voting for me. I’m so grateful for this, and I will never forget it,” Mazie said.

Mazie was escorted by her father, Derrick Tucker Sr. She is the daughter of Kaynetra Tucker and Derrick Tucker Sr.

Mazie is an active member of New Mount Elem Baptist Church, where she assists with the youth ministry and the praise dance team. At Vicksburg High, she serves as a student ambassador and captain of the varsity football cheerleaders. She is also the senior class president, Key Club secretary, and Mu Alpha Theta president. In addition, Mazie is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society.

After graduation, Mazie plans to attend Hinds Community College and major in sonography. She hopes to pursue her dream of becoming an ultrasound technician.
