John Marlon Chouccoli 1989-2026
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — John Marlon Chouccoli passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 36.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana on July 16, 1989, he was the son of Susan Perry Peterson and Marlon Heath Chouccoli.
Marlon was raised in Vicksburg and graduated with honors in 2007 from Vicksburg High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served our country with bravery in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was trained Military Police and later served in various capacities with the Mississippi Army National Guard.
Marlon was intelligent and had a loving and giving heart. He loved the outdoors and was drawn to the mountains where he always felt closest to God. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ, his family, and his friends. He will be dearly missed.
Marlon is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Prentiss Chouccoli; great grandmother, Katie Warren; uncle, John Presntiss Chouccoli, Jr.; and an aunt, Sheila Perry.
He is survived by his longtime companion and fiancé, Michelle Hodnett, of Baton Rouge; his mother, Susan Peterson (Ricky), of Vicksburg; his father, Heath Chouccoli (Jackie), of Holly Ridge, Louisiana; brothers, Aaron Chouccoli (Kayla), of Fort Benning, Georgia and Chase Chouccoli (Katie), of Vicksburg; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Camelia Perry; paternal grandmother, Barbara Montpelier, all of Vicksburg; aunts, Renee’ Chouccoli, of Vicksburg, Carla Solange Biedenharn, of Mt. Olive; and Wanda Chouccoli, of Shaw; uncles, Kenneth Chouccoli (Christine) and Tim Perry (Kim), both of Florence; his beloved nephews whom he adored, Malachi and Mark Chouccoli; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at First Pentecostal Church, 6541 Paxton Road in Vicksburg.
Services will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Pentecostal Church, the Reverend Dathan Tipton, Pastor, the Reverend D.W. Tipton and the Reverend Adelbert Adcock, all officiating. Military Honors will commence at the Church.
Pallbearers will be Travis Chouccoli, Trent Chouccoli, Josh Perry, Kyle Perry, A.J. Ashley, Skylar White, Chase Chouccoli, and Aaron Chouccoli. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Chouccoli, Tim Perry, Malachi Chouccoli, and Mark Chouccoli.
