Letter to the Editor vs 2

WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — Well, this marks the third year in a row that I have written this Letter to the Editor regarding the Warren County Board of Supervisors (BOS) complete inaction and fundamental failure with respect to the boat ramp at LeTourneau.

As I type this letter the river is at 7.04′ on the Vicksburg gauge, a perfect time to be working on the ramp but nothing is being done. Just two days prior, on October 4, the Vicksburg Post published an article about the low water levels and the effects it has on barge traffic, and mentioned again, the cruise ships are having to dock at LeTourneau again.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the BOS had done something, anything, to improve the ramp at LeTourneau for the cruise ships as well as the citizens who used to utilize that ramp for recreational and commercial activities.

Well it would be nice, but predictably they have not done anything, not one thing. They have even let the permit they were given in 2021 and again in 2023 expire.

Now one could take that to mean they never intended to do anything, just wanted to pay lip service and talk a big game. If you are a citizen and you like to use the ramp at LeTourneau, please please please hassle your BOS until they either do something or it’s election time and vote them out.

Don’t let them buy your vote with a new paved road, or a glorified gravel road as is the current case on Fisher Ferry Road. Demand action, it is your tax dollars,  and taxes keep going up every year.

Again, three years in a row

Jeremy Stokes
