Mass shooting leaves at least 6 people dead in Mississippi
WEST POINT, Miss. (VDN) — A mass shooting in West Point left at least six people dead Friday night, officials said.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott confirmed the deaths in a Facebook post and said a suspect has been taken into custody.
“Unfortunately tonight we have dealt with tragedy in our community,” Scott wrote. “Multiple innocent lives were lost due to violence. We do have the individual in custody and he no longer poses a threat to our community. I ask that you lift our victims and their families in your prayers. Law enforcement is busy investigating and will release an update as soon as possible.”
Officials said the shootings occurred at three different locations. Further details were not immediately released as the investigation continued.
