One shot and killed in Sharkey County

SHARKEY COUNTY, Miss.(VDN) — One person was shot and killed on Friday night in Sharkey County, Mississippi, authorities said.

The Sharkey County Sheriff’s Office shared limited information about the homicide in a post on its social media page, stating that two suspects are in custody.

“On behalf of Sheriff Ceaser and staff, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by the tragic homicide that occurred last night in Anguilla,” the post read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family during this incredibly difficult time.”

“The Sharkey County Sheriff’s Department is working diligently and around the clock to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. At this time, two suspects are in custody.”

“We urge anyone who may have information related to this incident to come forward and contact the Sharkey County Sheriff’s Department. Your cooperation could be vital in helping bring closure and justice to the family.”

Authorities did not immediately release the victim’s identity or additional details about the shooting.
