Milano’s Italian is permanently closed
VICKSBURG, Miss. – Milano’s Italian restaurant has closed for good. According to an employee of the business, a staff meeting was held last night where management paid employees up to date and announced that they would be closing for two weeks to renovate the floors.
After hours on Sunday, February 2, the property was cleared out of all tables and chairs, as well as anything owned by Milano’s.
According to Elizabeth Shivers, co-owner of the property, that was news to her. In fact, she stated that she had eaten there after church on Sunday, and any discussion of closing, either permanently or temporarily for renovations was not discussed. She reached out this morning to Milano’s and received the following message:
“I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to formally inform you of my decision to close Milano’s in downtown Vicksburg.
This was an incredibly difficult decision driven by ongoing challenges, including a significant decline in clientele and the increasing difficulty of sustaining operations. While I had hopes for the the future, these circumstances have made it clear that continuing is no longer viable. I deeply appreciate your support and collaboration during my time here.
Thank you for your understanding.”
Lesha Seale, a Milano’s employee who has worked there since last Easter, stated that the writing was on the wall, noticing that the business did not receive a food truck last week and a very small beer delivery.
“We are heartbroken. We were a family here, we had regulars that would come in and talk with us. These people knew us,” said Seale. “We are a small town, but we have a big heart.”
Wooten Properties, owner of the building, stated that the property is available for lease. For more information, contact Wooten Properties at (601) 831-2032.
