Porter’s Chapel rolls past Kemper Academy 42-14 in opener

De’Kalb, Miss. (VDN) — Porter’s Chapel Academy opened its football season with a decisive 42-14 win over Kemper Academy on Friday night. The Eagles dominated on the ground and through the air to earn a 1-0 start.
PCA jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first quarter. Auston Moore scored on a 1-yard run, Myles Randle returned a fumble 47 yards for a touchdown, and Tommy Nelson caught a 13-yard scoring pass from quarterback Chad Fuson.
Kemper Academy answered in the second quarter, but the Eagles quickly responded. Shaffer Bell intercepted a pass and returned it 62 yards for a touchdown, and Lakelan Pecanty broke free for a 47-yard rushing score. PCA carried a 34-8 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Fuson connected with Nelson again, this time for a 30-yard touchdown that pushed the lead to 42-8. Kemper added a late score in the fourth quarter to make the final 42-14.
Pecanty led the Eagles on the ground with 97 rushing yards. Fuson completed 8 of 11 passes for 79 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
On defense, Bell finished with nine tackles and an interception. Moore added seven tackles, while Pecanty had six and Carson Hays contributed five.
The win gave the Eagles momentum heading into their next matchup. Porter’s Chapel will travel to face Briarfield Academy next Friday.
