Vicksburg High School Band Wins Top Honors at Copiah Academy Competition

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg High School Pride Band took home first place at the Copiah Academy Competition on Saturday, dominating in multiple categories to secure the top overall honor.

The Gator Band earned first-place finishes in Color Guard, Drum Major, Percussion, Band, and overall Best Band. The Gator Girls also came in first place. The group is under the direction of Johnathan Nelson, with assistant directors Vickie Baker Hopkins, Kendra Lee, Rhemarcus Lee, Levonta Holland and Brandon Dorsey.

Judged categories included Band, Drum Major, Percussion, Guard, Majorette, and Dance Line. Trophies were awarded for Best Band in Class, Best Drum Major in Class, Best Percussion in Class, Best Guard in Class, Best Majorette in Class, Best Dance Line in Class, and Best Band of the Day.
