‘Rock the Block’ artist showcase coming to Vicksburg Nov. 21

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Local and regional artists will have the chance to hit the stage and compete for major prizes when Global Music Enterprise and United Music Mafia host the “Rock the Block” Artist Showcase on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at GoodTimes Event Center, 3215 Wisconsin Ave., Vicksburg.

The event, open to audiences 18 and older, will feature performers judged on stage presence, crowd control, and overall craft by representatives from Global Music Enterprise. Each artist must perform a minimum of two songs.

DJ Lit Sleepy will handle music throughout the night, with food by Cynthia Johnson and drinks by Shemekia Jones of Jones n Bar. Security will be provided by the Vicksburg Police Department, led by Sammy Stewart.

Prizes include:

• 1st place: $500 cash, a three-month distribution deal with Empire, 60 days of radio play on Power 813 The Beat, and a full-page magazine promo.
• 2nd place: $100 cash, a three-month distribution deal, 30 days of radio play on Power 813 The Beat, and a half-page magazine promo.
• 3rd place: A one-month distribution deal.

Food, music, and live performances will highlight the night as artists from Vicksburg and surrounding areas showcase their talent for a shot at career-boosting opportunities.
