VICKSBURG, Miss. – A Vicksburg police patrol car was stuck by bullets after responding to a call early Friday morning.

In a press release, Vicksburg Police Chief Penny Jones stated that around 5:08 a.m. on Friday, a patrol unit responded to a report of a suspicious person call in the area of Commerce Street.

A credible source has told the Vicksburg Daily News that a Vicksburg Police Department vehicle was struck four times. The officer did not return fire.

The Vicksburg Police Department is actively investigating an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, November 29, 2024. At approximately 5:08 a.m., officers responded to a call in the 900 block of Commerce Street regarding a suspicious person.

Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual and a series of events unfolded leading to shots being fired in the area. No injuries were reported, and law enforcement quickly secured the scene.

Following a thorough investigation, one individual is currently in custody, and warrants are pending for additional suspects involved. The investigation has revealed that juveniles are involved.
