Traveler’s Rest Ministries ends contract with the City of Rolling Fork

Dr. General Bryant and the ministry at Traveler’s Rest Church in Vicksburg have ended its contract with the City of Rolling Fork for assistance with grant money related to tornado relief.
The action comes after an investigation by WLBT uncovered large amounts of money being distributed to Dr. General Bryant and the team he assembled to assist Rolling Fork. Dr. Bryant was under contract as a grants manager with one report having him receiving up to $8,400 a week.
Yesterday, Dr. Bryant requested the City of Rolling Fork terminate their contract with him and the ministry he had assembled. Dr. Bryant contacted WLBT and said that he would, “…give us an Exclusive interview and documents he says to clear his name and stop the talk about his church.”
Citizens of Rolling Fork raised concerns over the amount of money being paid to Dr. Bryant to do grant work for the City of Rolling Fork. FEMA and MEMA have over 400 people still assisting areas of Mississippi affected by the tornado. Residents were concerned that the money being sent to Dr. Bryant and Traveler’s Rest could be more efficiently used to assist them in getting their lives back in order.
FEMA and MEMA will provide assistance to governmental officials on how best to utilize funds intended for recovery.
Hundreds of people in Rolling Fork are still displaced and have lost jobs after the devastating tornado hit the town on Friday night, March 24.
The City of Vicksburg and Warren County both do business with Traveler’s Rest Church including using it as a location for voting. The report from WLBT does not indicate any wrongdoing by Dr. Bryant, Traveler’s Rest or the ministry. It has, to date, pointed out the amount of money being spent on Dr. Bryant’s services.
The Vicksburg Daily News has reached out to Dr. Bryant requesting a live interview or a video interview and will update this story as more information is made available.
