WARREN COUNTY, Miss. (VDN) — A report of a stolen vehicle led authorities to a submerged SUV at LeTourneau Landing, ultimately resulting in the arrest of two Vicksburg women on insurance fraud and conspiracy charges.

On March 21, Vicksburg 911 received a report of a stolen vehicle near Goodrum Road and Fisher Ferry Road. Around the same time, dispatchers also received a call about a vehicle partially submerged at LeTourneau Landing. A multi-agency response followed, with divers deployed from an Ergon Marine vessel to inspect the vehicle. Authorities confirmed no one was inside.

The vehicle, a 2020 Ford Expedition, was recovered from the water, and an investigation into how it ended up submerged began.

On April 1, Warren County Deputy Dusty Keys arrested 52-year-old Heather Kay McCoy of Vicksburg, who had originally reported the vehicle as stolen. She was charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Amber Spencer, 45, also of Vicksburg, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a felony. Both women received $10,000 bonds and were bound over to the next grand jury.

Sheriff Martin Pace said the investigation is ongoing and declined to comment on whether additional arrests are expected.
