VPD arrests five people in Tuesday Shootings

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department is providing an update on two shooting incidents that occurred on Tuesday, January 13.

In a release, the VPD said, at approximately 2:10 p.m., a drive-by shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Washington Street. One individual was injured and transported to the hospital in stable condition. The following individuals were arrested on Wednesday, January 14, in connection with this incident:

• Jayden Elmore, 18

• Jacques Galloway, 23

• Lavondre Gailmore, 21

• Arkeem Banks, 18

At approximately 6:48 p.m., a shooting occurred at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Cherry Street involving a 16-year-old victim. The victim was transported to the hospital by personal vehicle and is in stable condition. Sedrick Lewis, 40, turned himself in to the Vicksburg Police Department on Wednesday, January 14.

Both incidents remain under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
