VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department and Vicksburg Municipal Court urges citizens to take care outstanding warrants. In a special event called Amnesty held from October 6 through December 6, residents can contact the department and clear fines and warrants without fear of arrest.

Through the program citizens will be able to clear unpaid fines and arrest warrants without serving jail time. Through the program, people can set up payment plans to pay off the fines, the fine will be dismissed, the warrant will be cleared and no court appearance will be necessary.

However, VPD Chief Larry Burns urges citizens to not delay.

“We are putting together a task force to round up individuals with outstanding warrants,” Said Chief Burns. “Once the amnesty program is over, the time is up.”
