Christmas tour

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Heritage Guild of Vicksburg and Warren County is sponsoring the O’Christmas Tree Tour of Vicksburg Homes for the third year. Mark calendars for the first and second weekend of December (Dec. 6-7 and Dec. 13-14) for the event.

The tour has expanded this year to three neighborhoods located in the Glenwood Circle Baum Street area; Cherry Street and Adams area; and Drummond, Speed, Pearl Street area. During the afternoon three homes will be open.

Each home will only be available for tour for one day only, and feature a guided tour of the first floor. The twelve homes featured are a rare opportunity to see homes from the nineteenth and twenty century decorated for the holidays in the twenty-first century. The architectural styles vary from Antebellum Mansion, Victorian, Italian Revival,  Neoclassical and Bungalow.

The holiday fun continues into the evening with Vicksburg Holiday Lights Trolley Tour riding the jolly trolley singing songs and enjoying neighborhoods decorated for the Christmas season.

Trolley riders will vote on the most festive lighted neighborhood with the winner receiving recognition for their community spirit and a $200 award.

The family tour begins at 5:30 p.m.  The adult trolley which could be a fun date night or with friends begins at 7:15 p.m.

Both tours stop at Duff Green Mansion for hot chocolate or a signature cocktail and photos in front of the beautifully decorated tree.

The tours are made possible by the homeowners hospitality sharing their Christmas traditions.  The Heritage Guild Vicksburg Warren is a nonprofit organization supporting historic preservation raising money in support of our historic community.
