South Park Elementary collects 3,000 items in successful canned food drive
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — South Park Elementary students showed strong leadership and generosity during the school’s annual canned food drive, donating a combined 3,000 items to support the River City Rescue Mission.
The project tied into Habit 4: “Think Win-Win,” a core component of the school’s Leader in Me program. Students worked together to bring in an “incredible number of canned goods,” school officials said, demonstrating how kindness and teamwork can make a meaningful impact on the community.
Families, staff members and students collaborated throughout the drive, filling boxes and sorting donations before they were delivered. According to the school, the 3,000 donated items will help countless families in need this season.
South Park Elementary also recognized the class that contributed the most. Mrs. Phillips’ class led the school with more than 800 donated items, earning top honors for their effort.
