The Board of Mayor and Alderman voted to close city hall at the board meeting held Thursday, June 25.

This year the Fourth of July marks a special occasion across the county as the United States of America celebrates 250 years as a nation.

Locally, there will be a number of events set to celebrate the occasion. There will be activities at the Vicksburg National Military Park all day Saturday, July 4. Admission to the park will be free on that day to encourage people to visit the park and engage in the events.

There will be live music downtown and will have a large Fourth of July firework show over the river beginning at 9 p.m.
