“As a native of Alabama, it is especially meaningful to return to the Mississippi River Delta and serve at a place as significant as Vicksburg National Military Park,” said Superintendent Treacy Stone. “Throughout my career, I have seen the power of strong partnerships and dedicated teams in protecting our nation’s treasured places. I am honored to join this community and look forward to working together to preserve the park’s history, support our staff and welcome visitors around the world.”

Stone brings extensive operational and leadership experience from several major national parks, most recently serving five years as Chief of Facility Management and Engineering at Grand Canyon National Park. Stone also previously served as Chief of Maintenance at Zion National Park.

Since beginning an NPS career in 2015 at Yosemite National Park, Stone has overseen complex programs, large workforces and multimillion-dollar budgets while building strong partnerships with community groups, local governments and regional organizations.

Before joining the National Park Service, Stone served 20 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s Civil Engineer Corps.

Stone earned his graduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his undergraduate degree from the Tulane University of New Orleans.

A native of Alabama, Stone looks forward to once again spending time in the Mississippi river delta. He will be relocating from Grand Canyon, AZ, to the Vicksburg area with his wife, Wendi.
