Donate to help fill school bus with food

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Help the students of Vicksburg Warren School District fill a school bus with nonperishable food items now through May 7.

The Kimmy Melton Food Drive is a district-wide community service project with the goal of filling a school bus with food. The food drive is named after the late Kimmy Melton, a beloved daughter, sister, friend and student of VWSD who passed away in 2012. Known for her incredible generosity, Melton asked her friends to donate to local food banks instead of buying her birthday presents. To keep her giving spirit alive, her parents have continued this tradition helping local food banks each year. This year the group has partnered with Stamp Out Hunger.

Donations can be dropped at the Academy of Innovation, 1650 Rosa A Temple Drive now through May 7.
