City recognizes Blackmore at BOMA meeting

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The City of Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen recognized Cedrionna Blackmore for her back-to-back state championships in weightlifting.

Blackmore, a Vicksburg High School junior, claimed her second consecutive title after repeating last year’s success. and the BOMA formally congratulated her at the regular meeting held Friday, April 10.

VDN Sports Reporter Keith Philips said Blackmore Competed in the 220-pound weight class, and not only secured the win but also set a state record with a 170-pound bench press. She finished with a total lift of 790 pounds, including a 315-pound squat and a 305-pound deadlift.

Blackmore’s performance comes just a month after she captured the North State title in February. Since then, she increased her total by 20 pounds to earn another championship.
