Mississippi Blood donations urgently needed
Mississippi Blood Services needs your help! Discover how you can donate blood and support local hospitals.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Mississippi Blood Services (MBS) is making an urgent appeal for blood and platelet donors as inventory remains at dangerously low levels, creating an immediate need to replenish the blood supply for local hospitals and patients across Mississippi.
MBS needs to collect approximately 250 blood donations and 40 platelet donations each day to adequately supply its local hospital partners and patients. Donors with A+, A-, B+, B-, O+, and O- blood types are especially needed, along with eligible platelet donors.
To help meet this urgent need, MBS is offering special hours September 26–30 at its Flowood and Oxford donor centers, giving the community additional opportunities to donate and help rebuild the blood supply.
Flowood Donor Center located at 115 Tree Street, Flowood, MS 39232, hours:
Saturday, September 26: 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 27 – SPECIAL HOURS: 10:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m
Monday–Wednesday, September 28–30: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Donor Incentives include
Eligible Double Red Cell Donors (A+, A-, B+, B-, O+, O-) — $50 Visa Gift Card
Whole Blood Donors — $20 Visa Gift Card
Platelet Donors — $50 Visa Gift Card
