Warren Central High School celebrated homecoming night in dominant fashion Friday as the Vikings cruised to a 45-6 district victory over Greenville.

The defending state champions scored all 45 points in the first half that resulted in a running clock.

Warren Central wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as quarterback Nash Morgan connected with Cameron Zellous on a 35-yard pass during the opening drive. Xavier Jackson eventually capped off the drive with a 14-yard touchdown run, followed by Morgan’s successful 2-point conversion to give the Vikings an early 8-0 lead.

The Vikings’ defense quickly made its presence felt as Fabian Davenport forced a fumble that gave Warren Central possession at Greenville’s 10-yard line. Morgan capitalized on the turnover with a 10-yard touchdown run, followed by Nick Lee’s extra point to extend the lead to 15-0.

Javid Scott continued the offensive dominance when he broke free for a 55-yard run before scoring a 10 yard touchdown on the following play. Lee added another extra point to give Warren Central a 22-0 advantage in the first quarter.

Jordan Woods also made his presence felt defensively with a sack late in the opening quarter, while Braylen Selvy contributed two big receptions for the Vikings.

Warren Central continued to pour it on in the second quarter as Lee connected on a 29-yard field goal to push the lead to 25-0.

Moments later, Jonas Green came up with one of the biggest defensive plays of the night, intercepting a Greenville pass and returning it 40 yards for a touchdown. Lee’s extra point extended the Vikings’ lead to 32-0.

With five minutes remaining in the first half, Aiden Lumpkin found the end zone on a 2-yard touchdown run to increase Warren Central’s lead to 38-0.

Greenville managed to get on the scoreboard late in the second quarter when Anderson broke free for a 32-yard touchdown run.

However, Warren Central had one more score left before halftime.

With just one second remaining, Zellous connected with Lumpkin on a 15-yard screen pass for a touchdown, giving Lumpkin his second score of the night and sending the Vikings into halftime with a 45-6 lead.

Lee finished the night a perfect 5-for-5 on extra-point attempts while also connecting on a 29-yard field goal.
