Vicksburg Catholic School announces new indoor training facility to support student-athletes
Vicksburg Catholic School has announced a new indoor training facility to enhance opportunities for student-athletes. The facility will include indoor batting cages and a strength training area, supporting year-round athletic development for VCS students.
Vicksburg Catholic School is excited to announce the acquisition of a new indoor training facility, formerly known and operated as The Sandlot, that will provide additional opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills, strength, and athletic abilities year-round.
The facility will house indoor batting cages and a dedicated agility and weight training area, creating a specialized environment where VCS student-athletes can focus on individual development and strength and conditioning.
This project is separate from Vicksburg Catholic School’s ongoing capital campaign for the Multipurpose Performing Arts and Athletic Complex (MPAAC). The new indoor training facility represents another important investment in the school’s students and athletic programs and was made possible through the generosity and support of parents and friends of the VCS community.
“We are incredibly grateful for the parents and friends of Vicksburg Catholic School who continue to believe in our students and find new ways to invest in their future,” said Kristi Smith, Director of Development. “This facility is a wonderful example of what can happen when our community comes together with a shared commitment to providing our students with opportunities to grow, develop, and excel.”
The indoor training facility will serve as a specialized training resource for VCS student-athletes, complementing the broader opportunities that will be available through the school’s new Multipurpose Performing Arts and Athletic Complex. Together, these investments reflect Vicksburg Catholic School’s continued commitment to supporting the whole student and strengthening the programs that help students grow in confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership.
As construction continues on the MPAAC, Vicksburg Catholic School is experiencing an exciting period of growth and investment across its campus. The addition of this indoor training facility demonstrates the continued enthusiasm of the VCS community and its willingness to step forward when new opportunities arise.
“We are blessed to have a community that sees a need and responds,” said Dawn Meeks, Principal, St. Aloysius High School. “Our parents, alumni, and friends continue to make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students. We are excited to see how this facility will benefit our student-athletes and our school for years to come.”
Vicksburg Catholic School extends its sincere appreciation to the parents and friends whose generosity helped make this opportunity possible. Their continued support allows VCS to pursue new and exciting ways to enhance the student experience while building on the school’s longstanding tradition of excellence in academics, faith, service, the arts, and athletics.
