Judge Toni Terrett has officially opened Sojoz Treasures in Vicksburg, bringing a unique shopping experience to the community that celebrates fashion, culture and lifestyle.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday with several elected officials in attendance, including Kelie Barfield, Mayor Willis Thompson, Alderwoman Vickie Bailey, Alderman T.J. Mayfield and Tax Collector Amanda Battle.
During the ceremony, Terrett explained that Sojoz Treasures represents much more than a traditional boutique.
“It’s not just a boutique, it’s more of a cultural emerging lifestyle brand,” Terrett said.
Sojoz Treasures offers a variety of clothing, jewelry, accessories, home decor and other merchandise inspired by African culture. The boutique features a large selection of Ghanaian-inspired items, along with merchandise from Nigeria, Kenya and Mali.
Beyond its retail offerings, Sojoz plans to bring cultural experiences to the community through special events.
One of those events is “Love Begins With You,” which will be held at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The event will celebrate love, music and culture while featuring numerous vendors.
In November, Sojoz will also host a fashion parade at the mall, giving the community another opportunity to experience the brand’s creativity and cultural influence.
Sojoz Treasures is located at 1121 Farmer St. in Vicksburg. Customers can also visit the boutique’s website to explore its apparel and merchandise.
