Cannon win prestigious business award – the only dealerships in the state to do so
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Cannon Toyota and Honda in Vicksburg have been awarded the J.D. Power “Dealer of Excellence” Award for 2025. Historically, fewer than 2 to 3 percent of dealerships worldwide have met the rigorous standards and intense investigation done by J. D. Power to achieve this award.
“We are so proud of Billy Crozier and his team at Cannon, who have earned this award in our community,” said Alderwoman Vickie Bailey. “Vicksburg is a great business environment, and this award is further proof that if you operate with integrity and treat your customers well, you will be rewarded in Vicksburg.”
“We have a great team and great employees,” said Billy Crozier, General Manager. “We are lucky to be in a community that appreciates the way we treat them, and it works both ways. We are thankful to be here and plan on being here for a long time.”
For over 50 years, J.D. Power has been a global leader in understanding the automotive consumer. On their website, they say, “By listening intently to car buyers and owners, we transform real customer input into insight. Insight organizations rely on to make better decisions about manufacturing, marketing, retailing, pricing, valuation, and ownership experience.”
Part of that process includes intense interviews with the dealership and local consumers. “It was a pretty extensive interview process,” said Crozier. “They sent someone here to interview our customers, interview our employees. They went through all our processes, and our processes are set up to take care of the customer. To be transparent in our pricing and in our communication.”
A ceremony at the dealership on North Frontage Road was held Thursday night, April 23, 2025. Marty Milstead, President of the Mississippi Auto Dealers Association, presented the award to Mike Cannon, owner of Cannon Toyota and Honda. “These are the only two stores in the State of Mississippi receiving this award,” said Cannon. “What they’ve done, how they treat their customers. You don’t get this by coincidence. It’s by a lot of hard work and doing the things you’re supposed to do. And Billy and his team, they do that day in and day out.”
Cannon took over his father’s used car lot in Calhoun, Mississippi, in 1986 and has grown it into 23 new car dealerships across the state. Cannon explained, “If you take care of the customer, they will take care of you.”
